Wellpark Hotel Tighnabruaich - Side View

The house was built in 1861 when the local doctor was to build a good and substantial home with the intention of using it as a hydropathical centre and to erect baths and other buildings required for such an establishment. The emphasis was on light spacious rooms, fresh air and sea views. All the elements considered necessary by wealthy Victorians conducive to good health. Hence: Well Park. The house consisted of an elegant dining room, delightful sitting room, butlers pantry, scullery, four bedrooms, a bathroom and maids quarters. Various outbuildings included gardeners workshop, conservatory, wine store, coal and wood stores and above, a large games room.
In the early 1900s a substantial wing was added to include a stylish, beautifully proportioned Edwardian drawing room, two extremely large bedrooms and a superb bathroom.
The elegant house known now as Wellpark provides comfortable accommodation in large stylish rooms, which retain many original features, with a warm welcoming atmosphere. Public rooms are very spacious and take in the magnificent sea views from huge windows making the most of this truly wonderful, tranquil location.

As you enter through the half panelled stained glass door into the large hallway you will notice the arts and crafts influences in the fireplace and the beautiful stairway with a stunning stained glass window on the half landing.

Wellpark Hotel - Tighnabruaich - Argyll 2012

New owners, Anne and Colin Slinger, first visited Wellpark in late 2009. Having decided to re-locate to Scotlands West Coast and having looked at many hotels it was love at first sight with both the area and the house. It was immediately obvious that the house and location were ideally suited to a small quality hotel. Upon discovering that for many years, until the mid 1980s, Wellpark had operated as a hotel, Anne and Colin were determined to acquire the property and realise their vision. They were lucky enough to move into Wellpark in early 2010.
All the day to day operations are overseen by Anne. Since first working in the hotel and restaurant business in 1973 and with many years in the travel and tourism industry having travelled extensively both for business and pleasure, it was always her dream to run the sort of hotel she and Colin would enjoy, with the emphasis on traditional quality hospitality, good freshly cooked, locally sourced produce and personal service. Add to this the perfect location and we hope our guests will love Wellpark as much as we do. We look forward to welcoming you.
